Theresa L. (Galassi) Porter, 89, Shoe Assembler

Theresa_PorterTheresa L. (Galassi) Porter, 89, of Haverhill, passed away after a brief illness Wednesday night, April 27, at Hannah Duston Nursing Home in Haverhill.

A lifelong resident of Haverhill, she was born March 25, 1927, to the late Peter and Ida (DelRosso) Galassi and was educated in the Haverhill school system. She was the wife of the late Charles W. Porter who died in 1999 and sister of the late James Galassi. Prior to working as an assembler in the local shoe industry, Porter was employed in the cafeteria at Haverhill High School.

Family visits and holidays with her beloved children and grandchildren, for which she always baked her Italian cookies, and filled holidays with conversation and cooking lessons. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting (afghans were her specialty!), and was an accomplished cook.

She is survived by three sons, Randy Porter and wife Cheryl of Kingston, Mass., Robert Porter and wife Kathleen of Newton, N.H., Charles Porter Jr. and wife Melissa of Kittery, Maine; two sisters; Gina Gervais and husband Aime of Westford, Diana Savinelli of Haverhill; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and five nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate her life Monday morning, May 2, from 10 to to 11:30 at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at noon in All Saints Church, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, donations made me made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike #300, Rockville, MD 20852. Interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill, will be private and at the convenience of the family.
