Roland E. Beauregard, 95, Battle of the Bulge Survivor

Roland_BeauregardRoland E. Beauregard, 95, of Haverhill, died Thursday morning, April 28, at Lahey Clinic, Burlington.

He was born in Haverhill on Sept. 3, 1920, son of the late Aime and Marie (Trottier) Beauregard and was educated in the Haverhill school system. During World War II, Roland served in the Army Ordinance Division, attaining the rank of corporal, and was a survivor of the Battle of the Bulge, where many in his division were killed. For more than 20 years he was employed as an electrician at the former Western Electric/AT&T until his retirement in 1982. Upon his retirement, he spent many winters in West Palm Beach, Fla.

For seven years, he was Scout Master for Troop 24 at Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. During this period he was the recipient of the St. George Medal, the highest award given to a lay person, and the first to receive this honor from Sacred Hearts Parish. For many years, he enjoyed singing as a member of the Holy Name Choir in Haverhill. While in Florida, Beauregard belonged to a group that would sing every week at hospitals and rest homes. He was chairman of this group for many years.

He was the husband of the late Helen A. (Blinn) Beauregard, who died in 2011. His survivors include a son, Jack Beauregard and his wife Maureen; a granddaughter, Amy Greif and her husband Robert; two great granddaughters, Olivia and Charlotte; and a grandson, Justin Beauregard and his fiancée, Masha Carey. He was predeceased by two sisters, Irene Ryan and Mildred Whitman as well as five brothers, Raymond, Paul, Harold, Richard and Norman.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his calling hours Tuesday, May 3, from 3 to 6 p.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. His funeral will be held Wednesday morning, May 4, beginning at 9, at the funeral home, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Sacred Hearts Church, Bradford. Interment with Military Honors will follow in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill.
