Roger L. Gaumond, 89, Worked at Western Electric

Roger_GaumondRoger L. Gaumond, 89, a lifelong resident of Haverhill died April 27, at Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

Born and raised in Haverhill, son of the late Albert and Alice Gaumond, Gaumond was employed as a laborer at Lucent Technologies, Western Electric and AT&T Technologies, from where he retired after 35 years of service. A member of All Saints Parish, Gaumond was also a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and the Communication Workers of America. An avid bowler, he was a member of many bowling leagues at Academy Lanes, St. Joseph’s, and Pilgrim Lanes. He also enjoyed camping at the Old Stage Campground in Madbury, N.H., where he spend many summers with his family.

He was predeceased by his wife Cecile B. (DeBlois) Gaumond in 1995, and is survived by a son, Gilbert Gaumond and his wife Selma Cartagena of Haverhill; two daughters, Camille Colantoni and her husband Thomas, of Derry, N.H., and Annette Wheeler and her companion Richard Webb of Raymond, N.H.; five grandchildren, Dorothy “Dottie” Robinson, Tammy Cooper, Daniel Gaumond, Melissa Sarfine, and Jason Wheeler; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gaumond.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Gaumond’s life celebration Monday, May 2, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. His funeral begins Tuesday, May 3, at 9 a.m., from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in All Saints Church, Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830.
