Shirley (Fogg) Wason, 94

Shirley (Fogg) Wason, 94, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully at Penacook Place April 14, surrounded by her family. Wason was the wife of the late Austin B. Wason.

Born in Exeter, N.H., Oct. 20, 1921, Wason was the daughter of the late Stanley and Isabelle Fogg.
While a student at Exeter Academy, Austin saw, and wanted to meet Shirley who was working for one of the school’s professors. They were later married while he was in the service and attending Dartmouth College. In 1947, they moved to Atkinson, N.H., where they lived and raised their family. She cherished the time spent with her family at their home on Welsh Island on Lake Winnipesaukee. She excelled at handcrafts to include knitting, crocheting and making Christmas decorations.

Wason is survived by her sons, Earle B. Wason and his wife Mary of Freedom, N.H., Jonathan Wason and his wife Denise of Palm City, Fla., Scott C. Wason and his wife Michelle of Fremont, N.H., Glen A. Wason of Kingston, N.H.; eight grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Grant M. Wason, and sister of the late Tina Philbrick.

Arrangements by Dole, Childs & Shaw Funeral Home, 148 Main Street, Haverhill, and interment at Atkinson Cemetery, will be private.
