Finding Success the Second Time Around

Editor’s Note: WHAV today introduces a new local column, “Success Principles,” by William “Bud” Hart, founder of Hart Group. You may not agree, but I believe every person exists on earth with a particular purpose—and with the right mindset, the potential to have fun finding it.

I love to go for runs early in the morning. It’s a great way for me to empty my mind of distractions, to think about my sweet spot and wait for inspiring thoughts to emerge.

Sometimes one idea keeps popping up again and again (like becoming a certified personal coach). And you just have to pursue it.

It’s not like the clouds parted, bright beams of glory illuminated the sky and a loud voice said, “You shall become a personal coach and change people’s lives.”

Nope. It doesn’t happen like that. One thing I’ve learned about pursuing purpose it is ever-changing. You find it by following your heart and live it out on a stage that works.

Part of that stage for me is writing about success principles.

Years ago I wrote and recorded many articles for a program that aired on WHAV called “Think About It.” I developed the program with the intention of helping people live better lives.

I’m happy to revive this opportunity with WHAV and pursue a thing I love doing, writing. Hopefully you find my articles on success principles entertaining and helpful.

In his 2005 commencement speech to graduates at Stanford Steve Jobs offered the following, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.”

It can take many years to find your sweet spot. My advice, enjoy the journey and make it fun
