The case of two Haverhill men, including a former Haverhill High School football player, accused of armed robbery last January, moves to superior court following a recent indictment by an Essex County grand jury.

Ian Kessel and Dalvin F. Andino, both 19 and from Haverhill, are scheduled for arraignment Tuesday, April 26, in Salem Superior Court, according to Steve O’Connell, spokesperson for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. Grand jury indictments against Kessel and Andino were handed down March 23. Kessel remains free on bail, O’Connell told WHAV. As WHAV reported earlier, both suspects and an unidentified 17-year-old juvenile were charged in connection with an alleged robbery Jan. 26, stemming from the victim’s “arrangement to buy marijuana,” according to Haverhill Police Captain Robert P. Pistone, police spokesman. Kessel and the juvenile were initially arrested by Haverhill police at 9:21 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 1 Forest Acres Drive. Andino was arrested and charged Sunday, Feb. 14, during the subsequent investigation. Blodgett’s office is not releasing further details on the case pending against the juvenile.

“As for the juvenile, once I have confirmed a (juvenile) has been arraigned, I’m not allowed to speak to it further,” O’Connell said.

Andino, whose last scheduled court appearance in Haverhill was for a probable cause hearing April 5, has been held on a bail revocation from a pending assault case of last September. Kessel, previously scheduled for an April 11 status hearing, was freed on $5,000 cash bail after a Feb. 25 bail review, during which Judge Timothy Feeley removed GPS monitoring bracelet and house arrest conditions.
