Methuen Groups Team Up to Clean Holy Family Hospital Trail

Holy Family Hospital, Methuen campus.

Holy Family Hospital, Methuen High School, Methuen Rotary Club and Align Credit Union are working together to clean-up the walking path that is owned by, and borders, Holy Family Hospital’s Methuen campus.

The goal is to clear the trail, which abuts Methuen High School, so it can be used for Methuen High School physical education and athletics programs, as well as the community.

“We hope to create a clean path for running, walking and exercise for residents to enjoy, and for high school students who need to fulfill their physical education requirements,” says Jeff Osgood, supervisor of physical education, health, family consumer sciences and wellness for Methuen Public Schools.

Methuen High School students who need community service hours to graduate will be involved in trail clean up as well as ongoing trail maintenance

The first phase of the clean up begins Saturday, April 30, from 8 a.m. to noon., and residents are invited to participate. Participants are encouraged to bring family, friends, and a positive attitude. Supplies and t-shirts will be provided until they run out. A light breakfast and lunch will be served.

“Physical activity is an important part of staying healthy. The trail loops around the hospital so it will be nice to see people outside enjoying some exercise and fresh air,” says hospital President Joseph Roach. “We are proud to partner with Methuen High School, Methuen Rotary Club, and Align Credit Union in coordinating the trail clean-up for greater community use.”

Registration begins at 7:15 a.m. in the cafeteria of Timony Grammar School, 45 Pleasant View St. in Methuen.

Participants may also register early by logging on to the Methuen Public Schools Health, Physical Education and Wellness page. For more information, contact Osgood, supervisor of physical education, health, FCS and Wellness, at (978) 722-6000, ext. 1106 or email [email protected].
