Start some seeds, grow some sprouts or create your own plant labels in honor of April – National Gardening Month.

Don’t let the fear of gardening stop you from starting a garden in the ground, a pot or on your windowsill. It is much easier than you think.

Start by asking an experienced gardener to lend a hand. Most gardeners are happy to share what they know, help get you started and even donate a few seeds and plants to your new gardening endeavor.

Check with your local Extension service’s website. They have lots of useful publications to help you get started. Or stop by your local independent garden center. Many have useful workshops and information to help you with your garden.

And if you are an experienced gardener – help a newbie. We know how gardening helps reduce stress, elevate our mood and of course – there’s the delicious and nutritious veggies.

So get started – it really is as easy as that.

A bit more information:  Celebrate other plant-related holidays this month.  Plan an earth-friendly activity for April 22, Earth Day, and share it with others on social media at #EarthDay. Then plant a tree, care for a tree or have a picnic under your favorite tree to celebrate National Arbor Day on the last Friday in April.
