Haverhill Schools Recognize HHS Girls Basketball Sportsmanship Award

The high school basketball season may be over, but the Merrimack Valley Conference (MVC) gives recognition to the effort by the Haverhill Hillies girls varsity basketball team in a “reminder that athletics is more than just wins and losses.”

The Hillies varsity girls basketball team received the MVC’s Division One Girl’s Basketball Sportsmanship Award for the past season, according to a Haverhill Public Schools post.

“Despite a losing record on paper, the girls played very hard the season and were more competitive than they have been in the past years. They balance their play with toughness and integrity and are all around good sports, on and off the court,” a spokesperson said. “We are very proud to have them represent Haverhill High School.”

The Hillies girls varsity basketball team finished their regular season Feb. 25.
