Doris I. Dwinnells, 97, Ganem’s Market Cake Decorator

Doris_DwinnellsDoris I. (Gelinas) Dwinnells, 97, of Haverhill, died peacefully at Sutton Hill Center, North Andover, Sunday, March 27.

Dwinnells was born in Derry, N.H., Oct. 9, 1918, daughter of the late Lillian (Ball) Gelinas Demand and Peter Gelinas. She was raised in Haverhill by her mother and step-father James E. Demand. She was educated in Haverhill schools and was a graduate of Haverhill High School. She had been employed as a cake decorator at Ganem’s Market in Haverhill, and after leaving Ganem’s Market continued to bake and decorate cakes for family and friends. She was a talented artist, enjoyed bowling and proudly showed off her many trophies and loved playing bingo. She devoted her energies into being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. Most of all, she enjoyed spending quality time at many family gatherings and especially her annual vacations with her two nieces and their husbands at Old Orchard Beach in Maine.

Dwinnells was the wife of the late Carl H. Dwinnells. She is survived by a son, Carl B. Dwinnells and his wife Cathy of North Attleboro; two grandchildren, Julie Loiselle and her husband Jeffrey of Bridgewater and Mark Dwinnells and his wife Lindsey of North Attleboro; great grandedaughter, Emily Loiselle of Bridgewater; care-giving nieces, Eileen M. Chapman and her husband Chester A. Chapman of Kingston, N.H., and Kathleen L. Cravino and her recently deceased husband James Cravino of Plaistow, N.H.; and several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and her many friends. She was the sister of the late Raymond Gelinas of Derry, N.H., the late Melva L. Madigan of Haverhill, aunt of the late David J. Madigan of Haverhill and the late James Cravino of Plaistow, N.H.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Thursday, March 31, from 9 to 11 a.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services follow at 11 a.m., in the funeral home. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill.
