Cheri L. Gainer, 38, Volunteer with Ozzie’s Kids

Cheri_GainerCheri L. Gainer, 38, of Haverhill, passed away Tuesday, March 29, at Merrimack Valley Hospice, Haverhill.

Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of Dinah (McFarland) Gainer of Haverhill and the late Arthur Gainer. She was raised and educated in Beverly until the age of 15. She moved with her family to Haverhill and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1995. She worked various jobs in the Haverhill and Andover area. She was recently employed as an office assistant with a luggage carrier company. She was a volunteer with the “Ozzie’s Kids” organization helping the needy children of Haverhill. She loved to travel with her family to Disney World in Florida where she had a time share. She also enjoyed scrapbooking. Most important to her was spending time with her two children.

In addition to her mother, she leaves two children, Andre J. Gainer and Layla M. Gainer, both of Haverhill; a sister, Michelle R. MacDonald of Florida and Brian MacDonald of Lynn; nephew, Mason James; cousins Christopher Cornell, Alexis Bingham, Joanna Flynn, and Julie Woody; aunts, Cheri Woody and her husband Steve of Raleigh, N.C. and Rosalee Anvari and her husband Ali of Omaha, Neb.; and grandmother, Phyllis McFarland of Raleigh, N.C.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Saturday, April 2, from 2 to 5 p.m., at Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Donations may be made in her memory to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Avenue, Boston, MA 02215.
