Ingalas to be Honored at GLFHC ‘Making a Difference Gala’

Robert J. Ingala retired in February as president and chief executive officer of Greater Lawrence Family Health Center.

Robert J. and Maria C. Ingala are being honored during the 11th Annual Making a Difference Gala in April, a benefit for Greater Lawrence Family Health Center’s “Access to Care” initiative.

Robert Ingala formally retired last month after serving as president and chief executive officer of the non-profit primary medical care group for 15 years. Previously, he served as chief executive officer of Hale Hospital from January, 1997, to January, 2001. He was hired as the hospital’s chief financial officer in 1992. GLFHC is the second largest community health center in Massachusetts, serving more than 56,000 patients at its six sites—five in Lawrence and one in Methuen. The center has also looked to expand in Haverhill.

GLFHC’s “Access to Care” initiative “means different things to different people,” the agency says. “Maybe it’s that patient with diabetes, who finds care and support in a group visit setting.  Maybe it’s that patient who has a life-changing prescription that he can’t afford, and GLFHC helps cover the co-pay to get the prescription filled. Or maybe it’s a mother and her children, new to the community, simply trying to get health insurance and GLFHC staff helps her navigate the health insurance system and enroll in coverage.”

The 11th Annual Making a Difference Gala takes place Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 to 9 p.m., at Andover Country Club, 60 Canterbury St., Andover. Tickets are $125 each and may be reserved online at www.glfhc.org/gala or by calling Gia at (978) 722-2866.
