Spring Storm Brings School Closings, Delays

What may be winter’s last stand Monday morning brings a messy morning commute and prompts area public schools and others to cancel or delay the start of classes today.

Road crews in Haverhill were salting snow-coated streets in the overnight hours before the storm gained intensity around 5 a.m. Plows were out on the streets by 6 a.m., according to a Haverhill Highway department dispatcher. While slick roads were reported in outlying areas, crews are reported to be keeping up with conditions through the morning commute.

School Closings and Delayed Openings

Closed

  • Haverhill public schools
  • Whittier Regional Vocational Technical High School
  • Methuen public schools
  • Andover public schools
  • Northern Essex Community College – all day classes cancelled and offices are closed.

Delayed Openings

  • UMass Lowell – opening at 11 a.m., all essential personnel report as directed.
  • Pentucket Regional schools – 2 hour delayed opening
