Police Seize Nearly 140 Grams of Heroin, 22 Grams of Cocaine

Police seized almost 140 grams of heroin and 22 grams of cocaine plus seven rounds of ammunition during Friday’s arrests reported earlier by WHAV

Additional detail about the drug arrests came Monday afternoon following a hearing at Haverhill District Court.

“This was excellent police work by the Haverhill Narcotics Division and our law enforcement partners in the DEA and Essex County Sheriff’s Department in getting more of this deadly drug off of the streets of Haverhill,” said Detective Captain Robert P. Pistone.

The operation began when Haverhill Police narcotics detectives, U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Essex County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant at 3 Avon Place, first floor, Haverhill, at 6:43 p.m. As reported by WHAV, Eddie Matias, 46, and Olimary Figueroa, 36, who both lived at the address, were charged with trafficking heroin of more than 100 grams, trafficking cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws and unlicensed possession of ammunition.

The street value of the 139.8 grams of heroin seized is $10,500, while the 22 grams of cocaine has a street value of $1,600., said Pistone. In addition, $1,034 in U.S. currency, seven rounds of .45 caliber ammunition and digital scales were sized. Matias was held on $100,000 bail and transferred to Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Middleton. Figueroa was released on $2,000 bail.
