Aline A. (Lajoie) Mercier, 95, Worked at Western Electric

Aline_MercierAline A. (Lajoie) Mercier, 95, a resident of Haverhill from 1945 to 2010, died March 18, at Warde Health Center in Windham, where she has resided for the past five years.

Born in Sweetburg, P.Q., Canada, she was the daughter of the late Dalvenie and Emelie (Bernard) Lajoie and moved to the United States as a child. She attended schools in Berwick, Maine, and Somersworth, N.H. A longtime resident of Altamont Street in Haverhill, she enjoyed being a housewife and homemaker. She was employed for several years at Western Electric Co. in North Andover. A member of All Saints Parish and the former Saint Joseph Parish, she was also a member of the Ladies of Saint Anne and enjoyed crocheting, knitting and gardening.

She was predeceased in 2007 by her husband of 62 years, Roland J. Mercier, and leaves three sons, Robert L. Mercier of Loudon, N.H., Ronald H. Mercier of Littleton, Colo., and Roland J. Mercier Jr. of Raymond, N.H.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Thomas White of Kernersville, N.C. and Linda and Roger Glew of West Stewartown, N.H.;  daughter-in-law Eleanor Mercier of Littleton, Coloo.;  sister, Angel Robinson of Glendale, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Joseph Lajoie and sisters, Germaine Roy and Claire Gagnon. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Jeanne Mercier.

Relatives and friends are invite to her life celebration Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Berube-Comeau, 47 Broadway, Haverhill. Her funeral will be Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.. from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 in All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill. Burial will be in Holy Angels Cemetery, Plaistow, N.H., at a time to be announced. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to: sisters of Mercy, 11 Trafalgar Square, Suite 203, Nashua, NH, or to Compassionate Care Hospice, 25 Nashua Rd., Suite E 3, Building E, Londonderry, N.H.
