At least two Haverhill men, charged in connection with a Jan. 26 armed robbery in what was called “a drug deal gone bad,” await upcoming status and probable cause hearings in court.
Dalvin F. Andino, 19, of Haverhill; and Ian Kessel, 19, of Haverhill, a former Haverhill High School football player, are scheduled to return to court April 5 and April 11 respectively, according to Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett. Andino appeared in Haverhill District Court Monday and a probable cause hearing was scheduled for his next court date. He remains held since his Feb. 16 arraignment and bail revocation from a pending assault case of last September. Kessel remains free on $5,000 cash bail since a Feb. 25 bail review, during which Judge Timothy Feeley removed GPS monitoring bracelet and house arrest conditions. He faces a status hearing during his next court appearance. No details were provided on the status of an unidentified 17 year old juvenile also charged with armed robbery in the case.
“The case against the juvenile is pending. I am not allowed to provide details on this case,” Kimball-Monahan told WHAV. No additional suspects were identified.
As WHAV reported in January, Kessel and the juvenile were initially arrested at 9:21 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 1 Forest Acres Drive following an alleged robbery stemming from the victim’s “arrangement to buy marijuana,” according to Haverhill Police Captain Robert P. Pistone, police spokesman. “When he went there, he was directed to get into a motor vehicle where a gun was put to his head. He was robbed of a good sum of money,” Pistone said at the time. Andino was arrested and charged Sunday, Feb. 14, during the subsequent investigation.
