Public Safety Officials Play Hockey to Benefit Veterans

A Haverhill public safety team of police, fire and EMS personnel will participate in a charity fundraiser hockey game against the New England Eagles Veterans Hockey Club.

The event takes place at 7 p.m., Friday, April 15 at Veterans Memorial Rink, rear of Haverhill High School, 137 Monument St., Haverhill. Admission is $5 and additional donations will be accepted at the door to benefit the Skate For The 22 Foundation, a Burlington-based group whose mission is to end the high rate of suicide among returning military veterans.

“Every day, 22 U.S. veterans commit suicide. We give veterans an outlet and bring public awareness to the issue through hockey,” a statement reads.

An after-party with the teams will be held at 9 p.m. at Barking Dog Ale House, 77 Washington St., Haverhill. A cash bar will be available.
