Mary Catherine “Kay” Bergeron, 82, Worked as Teacher’s Aide

Mary_Kay_BergeronMary Catherine “Kay” (Costello) Bergeron, 82, passed away on the evening of Friday, March 4, at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley surrounded by her family.

A lifelong resident of Haverhill, Bergeron was born May 29, 1933, the eldest daughter of Walter Costello and Mary (Hayden) Costello. A graduate of St. James Elementary and High Schools, she went on to work at Western Electric, Locust Street, Haverhill, where she met the love of her life and husband of 61 years, Adrian Raymond “Ray” Bergeron. They were married at St. James Church July 17, 1954, and had two children, Thomas Bergeron of Los Angeles and Maureen (Bergeron) Vallieres of Haverhill. Following her time at Western Electric, Bergeron also worked at Market Basket and as a teacher’s aide in the Haverhill School District, where she was a wonderful and positive influence on the lives of the many children she met. She loved spending time with those that meant the most to her and enjoyed summer vacations at Goose Rocks Beach with her husband, children and siblings; chatting with friends at the local beauty parlor; and lounging by the pool and playing games with her grandchildren.

In addition to being a proud mother, she was a loving grandparent to her four granddaughters, Katherine Seaver of Danville, N.H., Allyson Vallieres of Haverhill, Jessica Harmon Bergeron and Samantha Harmon Bergeron of Los Angeles. She also enjoyed visiting with, and spoiling, her two great-grandchildren, Jackson Seaver and Maggie Seaver of Danville, N.H. Besides her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bergeron is survived by her daughter-in-law Lois Harmon of Los Angeles and son-in-law Michael Vallieres of Haverhill, grand-son-in-law Christopher Seaver of Danville, N.H., and her four siblings Joanne Skofield of York, Maine, Robert Costello of East Kingston, N.H., Sheila Francis of Groveland and Patricia Behan of Haverhill.

A private service will be held with family. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to consider making a donation to the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, 360 North Avenue, Haverhill, MA 01830. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill.
