Long-time Bar Manager ‘Archie’ Archambault Dies at 56

A long-time bar manager and owner, Thomas A. “Archie” Archambault, 56, of Haverhill, died Monday, Feb. 29.

Archambault was well known around the city of Haverhill as a restaurateur and bartender. He managed many local establishments including Peddler’s Daughter and the Haverhill Country Club. He then opened his own “Archie’s,” in downtown and later in Lafayette Square. He most recently managed the bar and functions at the Elks Club.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of Joanne M. (O’Brien) Archambault of Haverhill and the late Arthur A. Archambault. He was raised and educated in Haverhill, attending St. Joseph School and was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1977. After graduation he worked for Western Electric and Lucent Technologies from 1977 until 1998.

He was a board member of the Haverhill Inner City Boxing Club and a member of the Garibaldi Club, where he enjoyed “Coaches Corner” Monday nights. An avid golfer, he played weekly in the Bradford Country Club golf league. He was a great storyteller who loved traveling, trips to the beach and spending time with his children and family. He was a devoted Boston sports fan, basketball and baseball coach for his children’s teams, and was always cheering for his favorite team, Notre Dame, where he made many trips throughout the years.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Christopher T. Archambault of South Boston and Kelsea E. Archambault of Haverhill; his companion of many years, Mary Beth Shea of Bradford; siblings, Michael J. Archambault and his wife Catherine of Methuen; Mark S. Archambault and his wife Gail of Belmont, N.H.; Jean M. Hutchinson and her husband Michael of Haverhill; Daniel A. Archambault and his wife Susan of Andover; and Jolene M. Dodier and her husband Kevin of Salem, N.H.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, March 4, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin Saturday at 10 a.m., at the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m., at All Saints Church, 120 Bellevue Ave., Haverhill . Burial follows in St. James Cemetery, 360 Primrose St., Haverhill.
