An alert witness helped Haverhill police track down and arrest a Tewksbury man who allegedly robbed a woman at knifepoint at a River Street ATM.
Police told WHAV a woman was making a withdrawal from a Bank of America ATM near 99 Restaurant, 786 River St., when a man entered the freestanding unit with a knife and robbed her.
“A witness was able to obtain a good view of license plate number and police were able to traced it back to a party in Tewksbury,” said Captain Robert P. Pistone, police spokesman. He added, Haverhill detectives, along with Tewksbury police, investigated in Tewksbury and conducted interviews, leading to the arrest of Nicholas Corrado, 32, of Tewksbury.
The alleged getaway vehicle belonged to the suspect, according to Haverhill Deputy Police Chief Anthony L. Haugh. Corrado was taken into custody at 2:28 p.m., Sunday. In addition to armed robbery, he was charged with possession of a class E drug.
Corrado is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court.

A Haverhill woman, arrested early Saturday on charges including shoplifting, is due to appear in district court.
Tina Brown, 37, of 25 Bateman St., Haverhill, was arrested at 2:59 a.m., Saturday, at CVS Pharmacy, 425 Lowell Ave. In addition to a charge of shoplifting, she was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for driving without a license.
Bernadette Jimenez, 39, of Manchester, was arrested by Haverhill police at 1:58 a.m., Saturday, at 69 Columbia Park. She was charged with driving under the influence of liquor.
James Vorse, 25, of Manville, R.I., was arrested at 1:23 a.m., Friday, at 552 Washington St., Haverhill. Under a warrant, he was charged with assault with intent to murder, assault and battery and witness intimidation.
Paula Rodriguez, 22, of 9 Pond St., Haverhill, was arrested at 10:37 p.m., Sunday, on Seventh Avenue. She was charged with driving without a license, operating an unregistered and uninsured motor vehicle and a number plate violation. She was also taken into custody on unspecified outstanding warrants.
Maria Mahmoud, 51, of 11 Mount Vernon St., Haverhill, was taken into custody at 3:24 a.m., Saturday, at home. Under several warrants, she was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, driving under the influence of drugs, two counts of unlicensed operation, negligent operation and a marked lanes violation.
Rodney Gingras, 54, address not listed, was charged with drinking in public, Sunday, at 6:06 p.m., on Wall Street.
