Mark K. Weiner, 65, Haverhill Crisis Team Counselor

mark_weinerMark K. Weiner, 65, of Groveland, died suddenly Friday, Feb. 26, at Holy Family Hospital in Haverhill, following a battle with cancer. He was the husband of Susan Kelly Weiner.

Born in Boston Jan. 3, 1951, he was the son of the late Leo and Mildred Weiner. He lived in Groveland with his family for the past 31 years. Weiner received his bachelor’s in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, master’s in Counseling in Psychology from Arizona State University and received his C.A.G.S. from University of Massachusetts, Boston. He worked as a psychologist for the Department of Developmental Disabilities, Danvers, and as a counselor for the crisis team in Haverhill for 26 years before his retirement in 2010. He served as a lector and Eucharistic minister at St. Patrick’s Church in Groveland. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #5004 of Groveland.

In addition to his wife of 40 years, he is survived by his two sons, Zachary Weiner and his wife, Elsa Schock of West Allenhurst, N.J., and Jeremy Weiner of Groveland,  and his daughter, Julia Weiner of Summit, N.J.; a grandson, Jacob T. Weiner of W. Allenhurst, N.J.; sister, Barbara Jeffrey of Deerfield Beach, Fla.; two brothers, Wayne Weiner and his wife, Loretta Dulberg of Chevy Chase, Md., and Edward Weiner and his wife, Suzanne of Pine Brook, N.J.; a brother-in-law, John Kelly and his wife, Weltha of Punta Gorda, Fla.L; three sisters-in-law, Dorothy Kelly of S. Hadley, Elizabeth Aho of Lenox and Nancy O’Mealey of Westminster and many nieces and nephews. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law, J. Francis Kelly, mother-in-law, M. Dorothy Kelly and sister-in-law, Nancy Kelly.

Calling hours will Tuesday at the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, from 4 to 7 p.m. His funeral mass will be celebrated Wednesday, at St. Patrick’s Church, 114 Center St. Groveland, at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
