Crews from electricity provider National Grid continue work into Thursday afternoon to restore service to customers in Andover and Methuen following an overnight wind-driven rainstorm, which also downed tree limbs on at least two Haverhill streets.

Some 49 electric customers along the route 28 corridor in Andover, between the Phillips Academy campus and the North Reading town line, remained in the dark as of 10:30 this morning. National Grid has estimated their service will be restored at 3 p.m., Thursday. Meanwhile, power was restored this morning to about 33 customers in Methuen, between Forest and North Lowell streets in the West End. However, some 10 customers along Hampstead Road and in the neighborhood of Jackson and East streets were waiting to have their electric service restored by 3 p.m. Other sporadic power outages reported locally included a handful of electric customers each in West Newbury and Newburyport.

No outages were reported in Haverhill, but police reported temporary detours were in place during the morning commute on Ferry Road in Ward Hill and on Old Ferry Road in the Riverside section as crews worked to remove fallen tree limbs from street portions.
