Fifth Avenue Shooting Brings Added Police Presence

Haverhill police have increased patrol presence in an Acre neighborhood after a shooting incident Sunday night in which “an adult male” was wounded with non life threatening injuries.

Officers responded at 8:21 p.m., Sunday, to a report of “shots fired” at 28 Fifth Ave. Shots were fired into the building where the victim was struck, according to Haverhill Police Captain Robert P. Pistone, police spokesperson. The victim, identified only as “an adult male,” was transported to an area hospital where he was treated and later released.

“Haverhill detectives and state police are investigating,” Pistone told WHAV. An increased police presence, known as a “directed patrol,” has been observed in the neighborhood, including Fourth Avenue, since Monday by at least one WHAV listener.

No arrests have been made in the case, Pistone said. Police also ask those with other information to call the Haverhill police anonymous tip line at (978) 373-1212, menu option “1.”
