Virginia M. (Goodwin) Webster, 103, Former Shoe Stitcher

virginia_websterVirginia M. (Goodwin) Webster, 103, a resident to Warrenton Road in Haverhill for 25 years, and a former resident of Merrimac and Bradford, died Feb. 16, at Penacook Place in Haverhill.

Born June 5, 1912, in Hartford, Conn., daughter of the late Albert and Pauline (Lipski) Goodwin, she attended Merrimac High School. Webster was employed as a stitcher in local shoe factories in Amesbury and Haverhill for many years and enjoyed completing cross word puzzles.

Former wife of the late John Webster, she was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth J. Gauthier and Norma Goodwin, and a brother, Albert Goodwin. She is survived by a nephew Alan R. Gauthier and his wife Eileen of Salem, N.H.; a great nephew, Brian Gauthier and his wife Susan of Kingston, N.H.; and a great niece Deborah Macy and her husband Bryan of Salem, N.H. The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Penacook Place for the wonderful care extended to Webster during her residence.

Funeral services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of Berube-Comeau Funeral Home, 47 Broadway, Haverhill, MA. Burial in Locust Grove Cemetery will take place in the spring.
