Two Haverhill siblings, charged with elder neglect against a 65-year old brother who shared a Winter Street apartment, will return to Haverhill District Court Thursday for continuation of a dangerousness hearing held on Tuesday.

Mark Cataldo, 6,7 and Alexandra Cataldo, 58, both of Haverhill, were each arraigned last week on a charge of elder neglect in connection with a Feb. 6 arrest and investigation by Haverhill Police and Essex District Attorney Jonathan Blodgett’s office. The actions were sparked by a medical assistance response at 199 Winter St., Haverhill. The 65-year-old victim was hospitalized at Holy Family Hospital at Merrimack Valley, Haverhill, after he was found lying on the floor “covered in his own urine and feces,” according to police. At last week’s arraignment, Essex Assistant District Attorney Thomas Shoulds described police photos of the apartment as “disturbing.” However, Carrie Kimball-Monahan, spokesperson for Blodgett, did not release further details Wednesday regarding the victim’s current condition.

“I don’t have any details at this time. I think that information will be presented at the 58A hearing,” Kimball-Monahan told WHAV. Both suspects “remain held,” she said.

Haverhill District Court Judge Patricia Dowling continued the hearing to Thursday pending completion of a competency evaluation by a doctor.
