Mary F. Meehan, 84, lifelong Haverhill resident, passed away Thursday evening, Feb. 11, at Holy Family Hospital, Methuen.
Meehanwas born in Haverhill, Aug. 21, 1931, one of nine children of Stephen and Mary Meehan. She was educated in Haverhill schools and a graduate of St. James High School. She worked for many years in the offices of Villa Distributors, Haverhill as well as Nefor Engineering until her retirement in 2007. Meehan spent her life as a caregiver for her family. Although she had no children, she cared greatly for all of her nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews as they did for her. Her interests included gardening, and her beloved dogs.
Her survivors include siblings, Kathleen Camic of Manchester, N.H., and George Richard Meehan and wife Pauline of Newton, N.H.; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews; and sister of the late Lillian Manghis, Stephen Meehan, James Meehan, Lawrence Meehan, Patricia Tashjian and Thomas Meehan.
Her Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Feb. 15, in St. James Church, 185 Winter St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Elder Services of Merrimack Valley, 360 Merrimack St. Bldg. 5, Lawrence, MA 01843.
