Emmaus Adult Shelter Remains Open During Extreme Cold

With the extremely cold temperatures, Emmaus is keeping Mitch’s Place, 150 How St., its emergency shelter for adults open.

“As in all extreme weather situations, we will not turn people away during the cold, but if we do reach capacity, we will assist individuals to find another warm place to ride out this cold spell. As always, our family shelter is open 24-hours a day,” a statement said.

Emmaus is coordinating with local government and community agencies, including the City of Haverhill, Haverhill Police Department, Salvation Army, city’s Drop-In Center, Common Ground Café and Trinity Episcopal Church.

If you know of someone outdoors this weekend, call (978) 241-3430 and ask to speak with a staff member, or contact the Haverhill Police Department at (978) 373-1212.
