Dorothy M. (Scanlon) Pierce, 73

dorotyhy_pierceDorothy M. (Scanlon) Pierce, 73, of Haverhill, passed away peacefully Friday, Feb.y 12, at her home surrounded by her family.

Pierce was born in Cambridge Sept. 22, 1942, daughter of the late Joseph Scanlon, and Dorothy (Hebert) Scanlon. Raised in Cambridge, she attended Cambridge schools and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. Longtime resident of Arlington and Haverhill. Her interests included traveling to the Caribbean, Florida, Grand Canyon, Yellow Stone National Park and other destinations.

Her surviving family members include her husband of 23 years, Richard G. Pierce; children, Deryl Witham of Arlington, Dana Witham of New Hampshire, Dawn M. Witham of Arlington, and Denys Witham Stuffle and husband Paul of Arlington; brother, Joseph Scanlon Jr. and wife Sandi of Hudson; extended family, Lisa Foley and husband Fran of Maryland, Gregory Pierce and wife Kim of Haverhill and Keith Pierce and wife Heather of West Newbury; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and many caring friends. She was the sister of the late Walter Scanlon and Claire Ferrari.

Funeral services will be Thursday morning, Feb. 18, at Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 South Main St., Haverhill (route 125), at 11. Visiting hours will be Wednesday in the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to Emmaus, Inc. P.O.
