Konstantinos (Kostas) Noukas, 94, Worked at Borden Chemical

noukasKonstantinos (Kostas) Noukas, 94, of Bradford passed away Jan. 30 in his sleep at  home.

He was born in Agios Kosmas, Grevena, Greece, son of the late Ioannis and Efthemia (Kondiles) Noukas. Noukas was educated in Greece and served during the Greek occupation and civil wars. In 1949, Noukas was taken to the Soviet Union where he worked as a builder in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. In 1969, he immigrated to the United States with his family, joining his brother, Demetrios Noukas, and other relatives. He was employed at the former Borden Chemical of North Andover from 1969 until his retirement in 1987. His interests included gardening, home projects and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul. Haverhill.

He was the husband of the late Lefkothea (Tzova) Noukas, who passed away in 2010, and is survived by his son John K. Noukas of Houston, Texas; daughter, and long term caregiver, Anthoula Noukas of Boxford; sister Triantafilia Papanikolaou of Grevena, Greece; four grandchildren Juliana J. Noukas, Constantine J. Noukas, Alexa M. Daskis and Dimitri N. Daskalakis; nieces Georgia Valhouli and Koula Vasilopoulos, Olga Montalta of Switzerland; and many other friends and relatives.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation Thursday, Feb. 4, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Holy Apostles Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill. His funeral follows at 11:15 at the church. Interment will be in the Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Holy Apostles Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill, MA 01830.
