Joan C. (Jutres) DeMatteo, 81, passed away peacefully Sunday, Jan. 31, at The Meadows at Edgewood, North Andover.
She was born in BostonSept. 23, 1934, daughter of the late Alfred and Grace (Hooke) Jutres. DeMatteo was educated in the Haverhill school system and graduated from Haverhill High School with the class of 1952. For many years, DeMatteo was able to make a loving home for her husband and children and also was employed as a legal secretary for several Haverhill attorneys. DeMatteo was a member of the Haverhill Golf and Country Club and was the treasurer of the women’s division for many years. She taught CCD in New Hampshire, Mass, New Jersey and Nebraska. In her free time she enjoyed reading and travel. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. DeMatteo who passed away in 2004.
She is survived by her children Michael DeMatteo of North Hampton, Donald DeMatteo and his wife Debra of Sandown, N.H., Gene DeMatteo and his wife Barbara of Beverly, John DeMatteo and his wife Patricia of Amesbury, Raymond DeMatteo and his wife Melanie of Cheyenne, Wy. and Daniel DeMatteo and his wife April of Birmingham, Ala.; sibling; Larry A. and his wife Chris Jutres of Sunderland, Carol Mau of Raymond, N.H. and Nancy Parker of Haverhill; sister-in- law, Barbara Bowers of Sun City, Ariz.;brother-in-law Richard DeMatteo Littleton, N.H., nine grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her calling hours Thursday, Feb. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the H.L. Farmer and Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St. (route125) Bradford. Her funeral mass will be Friday Feb. 5, at 11 a.m., at Sacred Hearts Church, 165 South Main St. Bradford. Burial will take place at St. James Cemetery at a later date.
