Man Faces Charge of Assaulting Haverhill Police Officer

Two Haverhill men are due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court on unrelated assault charges after separate arrests by Haverhill police Sunday afternoon and evening.

William Martin, 52, of 25 Downing Ave., Haverhill, was arrested at 5:48 p.m., Sunday, at 190 North Ave. He was charged with disorderly conduct, trespassing, assault and battery on a police officer and resisting arrest.

Earlier, at 3:08 p.m., Sunday, Kenneth Smith, 51, of 25 Victor St., Haverhill, was arrested at home on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

In other police news:

A Cambridge woman arrested late Saturday night on drug possession and disorderly conduct charges is due to appear in Haverhill District Court.

Michelle Defrancisco, 48, of Cambridge, was arrested at 11:46 p.m., Saturday, at Westgate shopping plaza, 400 Lowell Ave. She was charged with possession of a class D drug, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Also, a Haverhill woman arrested Sunday night on a warrant charging her with shoplifting is to appear in court. Megan Landry, 30, of 330 Kenoza Ave., Haverhill, was taken into custody at 9:51 p.m., Sunday, at home.
