Robert T. Amirault, 90, World War II Navy Veteran

Robert_AmiraultRobert T. Amirault, 90, of Merrimac, husband of the late Dorothy M. (Sanville) Amirault passed away Tuesday, Jan. 26,h at Merrimack Valley Hospice surrounded by his family.

Born in Bradford, he was the son of the late Robert S. and Alma M. (Gaudette) Amirault. He attended St. James Grammar School and was a graduate of Haverhill Trade School, class of 1943. After graduation on his birthday he joined the United States Navy and served his country aboard the USS Astute Minesweeper during World War II. He was honorably discharged in 1946. Robert was employed as a pressman at various printing companies in the Merrimack Valley including Andover Press and Town Printing in North Andover. He retired in 1990. He enjoyed singing and rocking all the babies in the family throughout the years, also playing and teaching pool, Cribbage and Kings in the Corner.

Surviving him are his children, Mark J. Amirault and his wife Joan of Haverhill, Linda A. Blake and her husband Jay of East Kingston, N.H.; Mary Ellen Deveau and her husband Joseph of Haverhill, Regina D. Schulman and her husband John of Bradford and Lori A. Neves and her husband Antonio of Merrimac; daughter-in-law Marcia J. Amirault of Londonderry, N.H.; grandchildren, Joshua Deveau and his wife Kristen, Erica Nolan and her husband Jeff, David Ratcliffe and his fiancée Megan Hammer, Jennifer Ratcliffe, Jonathan Kmet, Jason Amirault and his wife Aimee, Amanda Alfonso and her husband Brian, Danielle Amirault and Conor Amirault, Monica and Randy Lalumiere, Stephanie Neves, Tony Neves Jr. and Nicole Goyette; great grandchildren, Damien, Tyson and Xavier Amirault, Emmalyn and Carly Nolan, Hadley Deveau, and Aiden Lalumiere; sisters Alice Abate and Laura Cartier and her husband John, all of Bradford;  brother-in-law Kevin Sanville and his wife Marisa of Cherry Hill, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, William T. Amirault in 2006 and his brother Steven Amirault and sister Lucy Amirault.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Jan. 28, from 4to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services begin on Friday morning at 9, from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, 165 South Main St., Bradford. Burial will be in St. James Cemetery.
