Methuen Police Seek Help Identifying Break-In Suspect

Surveillance photos released by police.

Methuen police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect believed to have broken into six local businesses last weekend.

The six, including three businesses on Merrimack Street, route 110, Methuen, were broken into during early morning hours on Saturday, according to Methuen Police Chief Joseph Solomon. Police did not provide details on what may have been taken as a result. Surveillance photos released by police show the suspect as a white male wearing glasses, blue jeans, a blue jacket, a hat, and boots. Surveillance video footage indicated the suspect “has a very particular stride” and police believe he was operating a pickup truck.

“We strongly advise business owners to take the necessary precautions in order to deter criminals from breaking into their building,” Solomon said.

The break-ins occurred at Elan Hair Studio, 45 Osgood St.; The Hampstead House, 251 Hampstead St.; Romano’s Pizza, 301 Merrimack St.; Monte Carlo Salon, 369 Merrimack St.; TT’s Nails, 371 Merrimack St.; and Rosario’s 1859 Restaurant, 12 Hampshire St., all in Methuen.

Methuen Police are encouraging business owners to take such precautions as using an alarm, not leaving cash in the building after closing and leaving lighting when using a camera system.

Anyone with information or tips is asked to contact Methuen Police Captain Kristopher McCarthy, criminal investigations bureau commander, at (978) 983-8752.
