First Lady Baker Opens Haverhill Chamber’s WOW Event

Massachusetts’ first lady Lauren Baker will be on hand in April when the Greater Haverhill Chamber of Commerce holds is 20th annual Winning Opportunities for Women (WOW) Conference.

Baker, serving as honorary WOW chairperson, will present the first “Pinnacle Awards” to Dianne Anderson, Lawrence General Hospital; Jaqueline Maloney, University of Massachusetts, Lowell; Karen Andreas, North of Boston Media Group; Judge Patricia Dowling, Essex County Court; and Janice Morse, Newburyport Five Cent Savings Bank.

The event takes place Friday, April 15, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Blue Ocean Music Hall, Salisbury.

Speakers include Gloria Cordes Larson, president, Bentley University; Robin Young co-host, WBUR’s “Here & Now; Kara Richardson Whitely, author and speaker; and Haverhill’s own Jillian Cardarelli, country music star.

WOW began in 1996 “with the conviction that when women of all ages and backgrounds gathered together in one room amazing things happen.” Committee co-chairs include Dianne McDermott, McDermott & Co. Marketing; Clare Macoul, Bank of New England; and Sally O’Rorke, Gold Leaf Fine Jewelry.

Early bird conference registration is $89 per person until March 15, when tickets go on sale for $99 per person. There are also table discounts and student rates.
