A special local, state and federal police operation early Thursday morning netted three alleged drug dealers and seized drugs, guns and ammunition.
Haverhill Police detectives arrested Gamal Jones, 35, 138 High St.; Rasheed Erskine, 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and Jamel Robinson, 40, of Raeford, N.C. Jones was charged with trafficking in cocaine, conspiracy to violate drug laws, unlawful possession of a firearm and unlicensed possession of ammunition, while Erskine and Robinson were charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, conspiracy to violate drug laws, and unlicensed possession of ammunition, according to Haverhill Police Captain Robert P. Pistone.
The operation began with a search of Jones’ High Street home just before 5:30 a.m., where Erskine and Robinson were arrested. Jones was arrested at 11:45 a.m., in front of 1 Ford St. Haverhill police were assisted by Massachusetts State Police Special Tactical Operations Team and Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, K9, and agents of the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
All three were held without bail at Essex County Sheriff’s Department, Middleton, and are scheduled to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court Friday.
According to the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section, the special team’s “top priority is to identify and arrest the most violent criminals. These individuals, by the virtue of their life-styles, are career criminals and responsible for committing multiple crimes.”
Lock ’em up and keep them away from law abiding citizens. We don’t need these people running around loose.
