Elaine (Apostolides) Zazopoulos, 90, Worked at Radio Market

ZazopoulosElaine (Apostolides) Zazopoulos, 90, of Cape Neddick, Maine, and formerly of Haverhill, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 5, at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, Portsmouth, N.H.

She was born in Haverhill, Dec. 9, 1925, daughter of the late Theodore and Argero (Marinos) Apostolides. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Zazopoulos attended Haverhill High School. She began her career in the offices at Western Electric/AT&T during World War II, and remained with the company for 33 years until her retirement. Many of those years were in the payroll department. Each Christmas she would use some of her vacation time to work at the family business, Radio Market Specialty Foods, Haverhill, to help make fruit baskets. In November, 1946, she met her husband-to-be Aristocles “Zaz” Zazopoulos at Tuscarora’s on Winter Street, Haverhill. She was an active 90 years young, and enjoyed preparing her favorite meals and deserts and experimenting with new recipes. She also enjoyed needlepoint, knitting and was an avid sports fan. During the summer months she took great pride in her flower garden. Zazopoulos was a life-long member of Holy Apostles Saints Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, Haverhill.

She leaves her husband of 67 years, Aristocles Zazopoulos; two sons, Andrew Zazopoulos of Haverhill, Ted Zazopoulos and his wife Jane and their daughter Karlea of West Milford, N.J.; along with several nieces and nephews.

Her Funeral Service was held Saturday, Jan. 9, with interment in Linwood Cemetery, Haverhill. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer & Sons Funeral Homes, Haverhill and Bradford.
