Looking to expand your vegetable garden this year? Consider adding a few of the 2016 All-America Selections vegetable winners.

These plants were tested nationally and selected for their outstanding performance in home gardens across the country. Six vegetables were deemed national winners and several more were recognized for their suitability in specific growing regions.

Japanese Red Kingdom mustard was selected for its mild flavor and deep purple colored leaves. These plants maintain their color and flavor longer than most mustard varieties.

Two peppers received national winner status as well. Cornito Giallo (JAHLOW) is a flavorful yellow pepper. This early bloomer develops sweet fruity flavored peppers throughout the summer and fall.

Escamillo is another early blooming sweet yellow pepper. The compact plant produces an abundance of fruit that can be eaten raw, cooked, or roasted on the grill.

A bit more information: Use Japanese Red Kingdom mustard and other attractive vegetables to add flavor and color to your containers and flower gardens. And don’t forget the herbs. Their color and fragrance add texture, beauty and provide a bit of aromatherapy in your garden.
