City Hall Telephones, Internet Working After Comcast Outage

They don’t make them like they used to when Ma Bell was in charge.

Telephones at Haverhill City Hall are operating Thursday with “no complaints,” following some difficulties attributed to an outage experienced Wednesday by service provider Comcast.

Some phones and Internet service at city hall were out Wednesday, according to Mayor James J. Fiorentini’s office. Telephone and Internet service was working in some offices, including the mayor’s office, during the difficulties. Comcast reported service would be restored “sometime after 4 p.m.,” Wednesday. Inquiries by WHAV this morning to several city hall offices, including those of the mayor, Information Technology (IT) and Inspectional Services departments, found telephones were working normally.

“No complaints (today),” Haverhill City Hall IT Network Manager Ed English told WHAV.

Chief of Staff David S. Van Dam was unavailable for comment.
