Clara C. Allen, 87, Worked in Shoe Industry, WT Grant Co.

clara_allenClara C. Allen, 87, of Haverhill, passed away at Holy Family at Merrimack Valley Hospital Dec. 31, after a long illness.

Daughter of the late Harlan and Corinne (Marston) Pierce, she leaves two daughters, Marie A. (Kotowich) Novak, wife of Frank J. Novak of Haverhill, and Patricia (Connor) Stewart of Tyngsboro.

For many years Allen worked in the Haverhill Shoe industry, W.T. Grant Company and Holy Family Hospital, Methuen as housekeeping supervisor. In retirement she enjoyed gardening, cooking, making puzzles, sewing, watching old Westerns and going on trips to the beach and the White Mountains with family. Her fondest memory was attending the wedding of her youngest grandchild Jessica (Novak) Titus this past April at Winnekenni Castle. She had a genuine affection for animals that she opened her home to and was devoted to her newest addition, her little Terrier “Pepper” that she fondly called “Lil Lil,” a rescue dog from the Methuen MSPCA.

Besides her daughters and son-in-law, she leaves grandchildren, Jacqueline Novak, Johnathan Novak and Jessica (Novak) Titus, wife of Jeffrey Titus; grandchildren Robert Stewart and wife Manuela and Nancy (Stewart) Pope; one sister; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by husbands Norman Connor, Victor J. Kotowich, and Ralph L. Allen.

There will be no calling hours. Burial and services will be private. Contributions in Clara’s her memory may be made to the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844. Arrangements are by Driscoll Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 309 South Main St.
