Assault Arrests Dominate Police Activity Over the Weekend

A Haverhill woman is due to be arraigned in Haverhill District Court after being arrested by Haverhill police on assault and other charges late Sunday afternoon.

Kimberly Arrigo, 35, of 6 Rose St., Haverhill, was arrested at 4:29 p.m., Sunday, at home and charged with assault with a dangerous weapon and threat to commit a crime.

Two Haverhill residents face assault charges in court stemming from a police investigation Thursday evening

Katie Betts, 32, of 16 Auburn St., Haverhill, was arrested at 7:25 p.m., Thursday, at 63 Franklin St. She was charged with two counts of assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and witness intimidation. Robert Butcher, 58, of 63 Franklin St., was taken into custody at 40 Howard St. on a charge of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. No further details were available by deadline.

Two motorists face drunk driving charges following arrests by Haverhill police during traffic stops over the holiday weekend.

Melissa Hodgdon, 41, of Peabody, was arrested at 12:23 a.m., Saturday, at 39 South Prospect St. and charged with one count of driving under the influence of liquor.

At 11:29 p.m., Thursday, police arrested Lisa Dion, 50, of 47 Brook St., Haverhill, during a traffic stop on South Elm Street. She was charged with driving under the influence of liquor, reckless operation and alcohol from an open container.

A Haverhill woman charged with shoplifting Sunday afternoon at Westgate shopping plaza, 400 Lowell Ave., faces additional unrelated charges under an outstanding warrant.

Kimberly Nichols, 32, of 355 Washington St., Haverhill, was arrested at 2:52 p.m., Sunday, at the plaza and charged with one count of shoplifting. Under a warrant, she was also charged with assault and battery and destruction of property.

Daphney Nevers, 25, of Methuen, was arrested at 9:35 p.m., Sunday, at 79 River St. and charged with unlicensed driving and a motor vehicle lights violation.

William Estevez, 42, of Lawrence, was arrested at 10:26 p.m., Friday, on South Main Street, Bradford section. He was charged with driving with a suspended license.

A series of warrant arrests over the weekend by Haverhill police nets four local residents on various charges, including indecent assault on a child.

Peter O’Neil, 21, of 3 Maple Ave., Haverhill, was arrested at 6:35 p.m., Saturday, at home. Under a warrant, he was charged with assault and battery on a family or household member and felony breaking and entering in the daytime.

Devin Peters, 24, of 47 Nineteenth Ave., Haverhill, was arrested 4:32 p.m., Friday, at Baltimore Street on a warrant charging him with assault and battery on a family or household member.

Later Friday, at 7:01 p.m., police also arrested William Thomas, 56, of 34 Golden St., Haverhill, at Baltimore Street. Under a warrant, he was charged with drug possession with intent to distribute.

All four are due to appear in Haverhill District Court.

  1. Glad to see that the pay and benefits of school committee and City Councilors are being reviewed. I believe that both positions should be on a voluntary basis without pay and expenses just as all of the appointed board and commission members serve. Too many times members seek those elected positions to increase their years of civil service entitlement and for the fringe benefit of health insurance. We have lots of good members to both boards let’s see what they are willing to give back to the city by serving at no cost to the tax payers.
