Vincent H. Bernard, 87, U.S. Army Veteran

Vincent H. Bernard, 87, died Tuesday, Dec. 22, unexpectedly at home. He was the husband of the late Maureen H. (Sullivan) Bernard who died in 2008

Born in Lawrence July 18, 1928, he was the son of the late Henry J. and Agnes (Buote) Bernard. Bernard was a resident of Lawrence for many years and relocated to Haverhill when he got married. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence and Northeastern University where he received his Bachelor’s in electrical engineering. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Germany while he was enlisted. He worked as an electrical engineer for many years at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard until his retirement. He was an accomplished pianist in his younger years and for as long as his family can remember he was an avid railroad hobbyist.

He is survived by his sister, Evelyn A. Bernard of Bradford and; two sister-in-laws, Jane Cadarette and her husband, John of North Andover and Barbara Simpson and her husband, Phillip of Boulder, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service takes place Monday, Dec. 28, in the Linwood Cemetery in Haverhill at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
