Shirley J. (Files) Spencer, 77, of Haverhill, passed away Dec. 26, at home surrounded by her family.
Born in Dover, N.H., she was the daughter of the late Frances and Gladys E. (Welch) Files. Raised and educated in Haverhill she was a graduate of Haverhill High School, class of 1957 and Fazio School of Hair Design in Lawrence. Spencer loved boating, spending most of the summer enjoying her houseboat.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Conrad R. Spencer and their children; Karen M. Jabour and Michael R. Spencer and his wife Kelly (Rogers) all of Haverhill; George A. Jabour of Windham, N.H.; a brother, Frank Files and his wife Betty of St. Louis, Mo.; her sisters, Patricia Mallard and her husband Morris “Buck” of Georgia and Mary Burns of Hampton, N.H.; Joanne Files and Carol Files, both of Plaistow, N.H.; grandchildren Aaron, Rachel and Sarah Spencer; George and Jessica Jabour; and great grandchildren Anthony C. Jabour and Jocelyn Jabour; and several loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings, Lorraine Johnson, Phyllis Jodouin and Sandra Eaton.
Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services are Thursday morning at 9 a.m., from the funeral home with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 10 a.m., at St. James Church, Winter Street, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
