Harold F. ‘Babe’ Harriman Jr., 84, Usher at Fenway Park

harold_harrimanHarold F. “Babe” Harriman Jr., 84, of Bradford, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Saturday, Dec. 26, at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House, Haverhill.

Harriman was born in Bucksport, Maine, June 29, 1931, son of the late Harold and Erva (Hovey) Harriman. He was educated in the Milo school system and graduated from Milo High School. He served in Korea as a member of the Army National Guard until his honorable discharge in 1957. For 35 years he was employed at Bayer as a welder. He was an usher at Fenway Park and the Boston Garden, a constable and crossing guard in Haverhill, an avid sports fan for not only for the Patriots and all Boston teams, but also for all of his children’s sporting events. He was able to serve President Kennedy at a plated dinner at the White House. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and softball player.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Paul Harriman, Francis Harriman and Thelma Morrill. He is survived by his wife Marian (Cooley) Harriman of Bradford; his children, Ralph Harriman of Milford, N.H., Nancy Harriman of Hollister, Calif., Roger Harriman and his wife Mary of Haverhill, Rhonda Harriman and her wife Regina Rowell of Newton, N.H. and Rachel Owens and her husband Mark of Haverhill; a sister Elizabeth Ouellette and her husband Leo of Groveland; seven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend his calling hours Wednesday, Dec. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the First Church of Christ, 10 Church St., Bradford. His funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 p.m. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by the H.L. Farmer and Sons Funeral Homes and Cremation Service, Haverhill and Bradford.
