City Now Responsible for Maintenance of Bradfields Drive

Haverhill city councilors Tuesday unanimously approved acceptance of Bradfields Drive as a public way.

It was the latest in a series of city acceptances of streets within privately developed subdivisions. Former Haverhill City Councilor J. Bradford Brooks, 21 Bradfields Drive, spoke in support of the street acceptance.

“We basically have been going through this for over 20 years. And I think, right at this point, we have all committee peoples, the heads of all departments all in favor of this.  And I would just like to tell you that I think we did a great job down there. And I think we have one of the finest subdivisions in the city of Haverhill, bringing good tax dollars to the city,” Brooks said. According to Secretary of State William F. Galvin’s office, the developer’s corporation is managed by Phil Rice, 37 Stevens St. Brooks is also listed as a signatory with an address of 137 South Elm St.

No opposition was raised during a public hearing on the request by developer Bradford Circle LLC.

In October, the Haverhill Planning Board favorably recommended acceptance of the street after approving an escrow reduction to a zero balance. Bradfields Drive, located off East Broadway, serves the “Woods At Bradfields Drive” development.
