The trustees of Pentucket Bank earlier this month elevated Scott D. Cote to the position of chairman and chief executive officer and promoted Charles A. “Chuck” Walker to president.

Cote, of Derry, N.H., joined Pentucket Bank in 1998 after a 20-year career at the former Fleet Bank (now part of Bank of America). He succeeded Kendall C. Smith as president in 2008 and added the title of chief executive officer in 2010 when Smith became chairman. Smith will continue to serve on the bank’s board of trustees.

“As Pentucket Bank looks forward to its 125th year, we will continue our dedication to our customers, to the communities we serve, and to our employees,” Cote said in a press release.

Cote is also president of Greater Haverhill Foundation, a member of the consortium building Harbor Place, downtown. Pentucket Bank plans to move its corporate offices to the new development and demolish the older of its two buildings across the street. The bank has also purchased naming rights at Harbor Place, calling it “Pentucket Bank Plaza.” He is a member of the Rotary Club of Haverhill and has also served as a director of George C. Wadleigh Foundation and treasurer of the former Haverhill Affordable Residence Trust.

Walker, of East Kingston, N.H., becomes the 12th president of the bank since its 1891 founding. He was named executive vice president and chief credit officer in 2010 and previously served as vice president and commercial loan officer at the bank between 2002 and 2005. During the interim, Walker was managing director of the corporate banking group at TD Bank. He is also treasurer of CRC Housing Corp. of Haverhill and board member of the Haverhill Kiwanis Club and vice president of its Haverhill Kiwanis Club Charitable Foundation.

“Chuck has over 36 years of banking, commercial lending and relationship management experience that has proven to be instrumental in the bank’s growth and success,” Cote said. “Chuck is a great collaborator who has an engaging personality, great team building skills and sound business acumen and talent. He has been a key contributor in helping to grow the bank’s lending and retail business lines,” he added.

Pentucket Bank, one of only two Haverhill banks still owned by depositors, reported assets of $650 million.
