June Elizabeth (Longmire) Wahl, 76, Certified Nursing Assistant

longmire-wahlJune Elizabeth (Longmire) Wahl, 76, of Newton, N.H., passed away Saturday, Dec. 5, at Oxford Nursing Home, Haverhill, surrounded by her family after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late, William H. and Mary M. (Isles) Longmire. She attended Lynn public schools and was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, class of 1957. Residing in Lynn most of her life, Wahl met her husband Duane while he was serving in the Navy. They married and raised their family in Lynn.

She was employed as a certified nursing assistant for many years working for various nursing homes in Lynn and Salem Hospital. She loved antiques, yard sales and the thrill of a bargain. She and her sister took their hobby and turned it into a successful antique business. She loved to play cards, BINGO, and go to the casinos, or sit by the lake and read. An avid sports fan, she loved all New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. She and her late husband traveled extensively throughout the country by RV with their dogs.

The widow of Duane A. Wahl, she leaves her children. three daughters and sons-in-law, Diane L. and David Robinson, of Peabody, Karen E. and Hal Bowden, of Newton, N.H., and Nancy J. and Brian Mercer, of Lawrence; a twin sister, Joann E. Ware, of Haverhill; grandchildren, Abbigayle and Mary Bowden, Nicole and Jeremy Amero, Tonimarie and Jonathon Mercer; two great grandchildren; and niece, Susan E. Wohl.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St. Haverhill. Funeral services are Wednesday morning at 11, at the Atkinson Congregational Church, 101 Main St. Atkinson, N.H. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Alzheimer’s Foundation at alzfdn.org.
