Philip Joseph Brown Jr., 85, Korean War Veteran

Philip Joseph Brown Jr., 85, longtime Haverhill resident, died Monday afternoon, Nov. 23, at Baker-Katz Nursing Home in Haverhill.

Born in Lawrence Aug. 29, 1930, he was the son of the late Philip J. and Thelma (Galvin) Brown. For several years he worked at Lucent Technologies in the maintenance department. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the United States Marine Corps.

He leaves his three brothers, Robert Brown of Dracut, Richard Blatchford and wife Marcia of Hampton, N.H., and William Brown and wife Kathy of Salem, N.H.; four sisters, Thelma Taylor of Florida, Norma Maffeo and husband Bob of Haverhill, Sandra Dillman of Dracut, and Mary Lou; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by a sister, Elizabeth Banks and a brother, John Brown.

A memorial service will take place Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 11 a.m., at the Paul C. Rogers Family-Carnevale Funeral Home, 334 Main St., Haverhill. Burial will be private for the family and there will be no visiting hours. Kindly omit flowers, instead, donations may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
