Haverhill License Commission Disciplines Six Businesses

A Haverhill police sting operation resulted in disciplinary action against six businesses Thursday night by the Haverhill License Commission.

Haverhill police charged Quikmart, 764 Main St.; Oriental Gardens, 400 Lowell Ave.; One Stop Market, 651 Broadway; 7-Eleven, 503 River St.; Richdale, 297 Lincoln Ave.; and American Grocery, 426-428 Main St., with selling to minors last Sept. 24. Testimony was provided by Captains Robert P. Pistone and Michael Wrenn.

Quikmart, which had no prior violations, was ordered to close alcohol sales early two nights.

Oriental Gardens was ordered to stop selling alcohol early on four nights. The restaurant is still on probation for its response to a fight outside the business last July. It also has previous violations for over serving alcohol in 2012, and selling to minors in 1996, 2002 and 2006.

One Stop had prior violations in 2010 and 2012 was also ordered to cease selling alcohol early three nights.

7-Eleven, also still on probation from selling to a minor last July and caught in a similar sting in 2014, was ordered to close early four days.

Richdale had a prior violation of selling to a person under 21 years of age, in 2012. The store was ordered to close early three days.

American Grocery had two violations in 2014—selling to an intoxicated person and selling to a minor—was ordered to close early four days.
