Robert T. Wicks, 65, Worked 40 Years for City of Haverhill

robert_wicksRobert T. Wicks, 65, of Haverhill, passed away Friday, Nov. 6, at the Sutton Hill Nursing Home, Andover.

Born in Haverhill, he was the son of the late William D. and Estelle (Turner) Wicks. He attended Miss Fanny Farmers School of Cookery in Boston, class of 1968, and Essex Agricultural School, class of 1970. A dedicated City of Haverhill employee for more than 40 years, Wicks began his career in the Haverhill Water Department then transferred to the Haverhill Highway Department retiring in 2009. He was a 3rd Degree Mason with the Sagahew Lodge in Haverhill and a 32nd Degree Scottish Right. He was a proud member of the Clan MacDonald and cherished his Scottish heritage. Wicks was a lifetime member of the National Rifleman’s Association, the Gun Owners Action League of Massachusetts and the Haverhill Rod and Gun Club.

Surviving him are his sisters, M. Suzanne Wicks of Freemont, N.H. and Lucinda M. Wicks-Mitchell of Bradford; sister-in-law, Dorothy L. Wicks of Townsend; nieces and nephews Samuel Wicks, Michael Wicks, Jennifer Mitchell and her son Sean; Elizabeth and Shawn McGovern and their children Cameron, Collin, Brady and Theresa, of Raymond, N.H., Sarah Malette, and her children Christina, Briana and Jeremy, William T. Wicks and his wife Quinn and their children, Thomas and Julianne, of Virginia, and Kevin Wicks, of Townsend. He was predeceased by his brother William D. Wicks, III.

Wicks’ family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the loving care he received during the past year of his residency at the Sutton Hill Nursing Facility. Memorial donations may be made in his name to the First Church of Christ 10 Church St. Bradford, MA 01835.

Family and friends are respectfully invited to attend calling hours Monday, Nov. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. Funeral services will be Tuesday, Nov. 10, at 10 a.m., at The First Church of Christ, 10 Church St. in Bradford.  Burial  follows in Maplewood North Parish Cemetery, Atkinson Depot Road, Plaistow, N.H.
