Helen F. (Costello) Checovich, 94, Interviewer for Unemployment Division

checovichHelen F. (Costello) Checovich, 94, of Bradford passed away Tuesday, Nov. 3rd at her residence.

She was born in Haverhill, Oct. 16, 1921, daughter of the late Myles and Alice (Sheridan) Costello. Educated in the Haverhill school system, Helen graduated from Haverhill High School and attended Rider College. For more than 20 years she was employed as a senior interviewer for the Division of Unemployment. She cherished spending summers at Seabrook Beach, N.H., and winters in Naples, Fla. She was an avid golfer and bridge player and enjoyed entertaining her family and friends. Her family would like to thank her friend Eunice as well as Paul, Marijane, Jeannie and Eva from Merrimack Valley Hospice for their help and support during this difficult time.

She was the wife of the late Samuel L. Checovich, who passed away in 1978, and mother of the late Frederick J. Checovich, who passed away in 1985. Checovich was also the longtime companion of the late Irving Jordan. Her survivors include her daughter Sandra C. and her husband William McEvoy of Bradford; son Samuel L. Checovich and his wife Andrea of North Hampton, N.H.; five grandchildren Todd, Christina, Cory, Nicholas and Emma; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation Saturday, Nov. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., at the H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 in Sacred Hearts Church in Bradford. Interment will be in St. James Cemetery, Haverhill. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to Sacred Hearts Church, 48 So. Chestnut St., Bradford, MA 01835, Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg. #9, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the donor’s choice.
